This painting is a small return to my childhood.
When I was little, I had a beautiful collection of flower fairy cards illustrated by Cicely Mary Barker. I loved them deeply. I would study every detail, the tiny wings, the delicate dresses, the way each fairy belonged to a flower or a season.
Whenever I was outside, walking among trees and fallen leaves, I imagined they were there. Hidden between petals. Resting on branches. Watching quietly. I would make up stories in my head and create entire little worlds that felt just as real as the one around me.
This autumn fairy is inspired by those memories.
She rests on a warm, golden leaf, part of the season I love most. Autumn has always felt magical to me. The deep oranges, soft reds, and earthy tones. The quiet shift in the air. The sense of slowing down.
