I wanted to create a portrait that feels both timeless and intimate, a woman surrounded by warmth and quiet gold. There is something about gold that always pulls me in. It carries light in a very special way. It feels luxurious, but also emotional… almost nostalgic.
While working on this painting, I allowed myself to play more freely with mixed media, layering watercolor, colored pencils, and acrylic touches to build depth and texture. The gold elements were especially joyful to paint. They bring movement and a soft glow that shifts gently with the light.
To me, she feels calm but self-possessed. Quiet, but fully present. A moment of stillness wrapped in shimmer.
